The aggressive form of cancer was diagnosed in May 2025, less than four months after leaving the White House; treatment included hormone and radiation therapy. Hunter also revisited the debates with Donald Trump in June 2024, after which doubts grew about Biden's ability to continue his bid for a second term. He admitted he was shocked by his father's performance and suggested that the cancer might have already been affecting him then, though there is no confirmed direct link.
