Jewish Democrat Jeremy Moss defeats pro-Palestinian rival in Michigan primary

The Associated Press called the race after 74% of the vote was counted, with Moss taking 49.2% of the vote to Farooqi's 32.9%. The district, located in Oakland County, has a high concentration of Jews and includes Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, which was heavily damaged in an attack earlier this year. Moss, who has spoken out against antisemitism from the state house floor, expressed gratitude to supporters on X/Twitter. While Moss has not made Israel a central issue, he has supported liberal pro-Israel positions, including a two-state solution. His opponents tried to link him to AIPAC, but he received comparatively little funding from pro-Israel groups. The seat is currently held by centrist Rep. Haley Stevens, who was facing a primary challenge from Abdul El-Sayed in the Senate race.
