The Jerusalem Light Rail announced today (Tuesday) that the new segment of the Green Line (L3) will open to passengers this coming Friday. The segment, 7 kilometers long, includes 13 stations, 12 of which are new, and starts at the Haturim station on Jaffa Street and ends at the Malha station. The new line will connect major employment, education, culture, and leisure hubs in the city, including Teddy Stadium, Binyanei HaUma, the Givat Ram campus, and Malha Mall. The line will integrate with the existing Red Line (L1) at the Haturim and Central Station stops, and will allow convenient transfer to Israel Railways at the Yitzhak Navon station. This is the first line opened as part of the Green Line project, and in the coming months an additional L4 line is expected to open, connecting Gilo to the network.
