Ghaith described this as a gradual and systematic path targeting the religious, historical, and legal identity and status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The warnings come as the Hebrew holiday season approaches, beginning in September and extending until early October. The Jerusalem Governorate announced it had recorded 15 removal orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of September, after recording 23 orders during July and August. The governorate considers that the acceleration of these measures aims to reduce Palestinian presence inside the mosque and prepare the atmosphere for intensifying incursions. The governorate affirms that Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entire area of 144 dunams, is an exclusive right of Muslims, and that any measures aimed at changing its status are rejected.
