A significant development in the investigation of the arson of the 'Japanika' chain branch in Givatayim: an indictment is expected to be filed against two 18-year-olds from Rehovot. According to the suspicion, the two arrived on a two-wheeled vehicle on July 12 at 4:00 AM, poured flammable material at the front of the restaurant, set it on fire, and fled. Investigators of the Tel Aviv District Police used technological means to trace the suspects, who according to the police tried to cover their tracks. The first suspect was arrested on July 27, and another suspect was arrested a few days later. Searches of their homes yielded findings and clothing items linking them to the arson. Their detention was extended from time to time, and yesterday (August 11) prosecutor's statements were filed ahead of the filing of indictments. The police noted that the solving of the incident joins the solving of another case in which a grenade was thrown at a branch of the chain in Kiryat Ono.
