Israelis warned of large-scale train cancellations

Israel Railways has warned of large-scale train cancellations in northern Israel from August 20 to 22 due to infrastructure works on the Zvulun section. Service will be limited to the Merkaz HaShmona station in Haifa, with stations in Nahariya, Akko, Ahihud, Karmiel and other cities closing. Free shuttle buses will be provided for passengers.

Israel Railways has warned passengers of major temporary restrictions on train service in northern Israel. From Thursday, August 20, until the end of Saturday, August 22, service will be limited to the Merkaz HaShmona station in Haifa. The reason cited is infrastructure works on the Zvulun section, necessary to ensure safety. During this period, the stations of Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Haim, Hutzot HaMifratz, Merkazit HaMifratz, as well as stations in Nahariya, Akko, Ahihud and Karmiel will cease operation. The Modi'in–Nahariya and Be'er Sheva–Karmiel/Nahariya routes will operate only up to Merkaz HaShmona. The Haifa (Hof HaCarmel)–Karmiel and Atlit–Beit She'an lines will be completely suspended, also affecting the Yokneam–Kfar Yehoshua, Migdal HaEmek–Kfar Baruch, Afula and Beit She'an stations. Work will begin on Thursday night at 00:01. Free shuttle buses will be provided from Merkaz HaShmona to the closed stations, and the number of trains on operating routes will be increased. Service is expected to resume as normal from the morning of August 23.
