Israeli Navy Conducts Large-Scale Drills Amid Iranian Threats

The Israeli Navy has launched large-scale, multi-stage exercises along the country's coast and in the Red Sea in response to Iranian threats to strike strategic targets. Amid Iranian threats to strike strategic targets and the coast of Israel, the country's navy has begun large-scale, multi-stage exercises. According to military analyst Avi Ashkenazi of Maariv, the Israeli Navy is conducting drills along the coast and in the Red Sea. The maneuvers are a response to the escalation of threats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has declared plans to launch a preemptive strike and damage strategically important Israeli facilities. Iran has designated Israeli energy facilities as potential targets: power plants, desalination plants, gas platforms in the Mediterranean, and seaports. In response, the IDF has deployed hundreds of fighter jets, missile ships, and submarines in the exercises. The maneuvers cover territory from Shavei Zion in the north to Ashdod in the south, as well as the Eilat area on the Red Sea, where special forces raids are being practiced. The drills include repelling combined attacks: missile barrages, drone strikes on gas platforms and merchant ships, as well as threats from the Lebanese and Gazan directions. Special attention is given to lessons from past conflicts, particularly scenarios for preventing naval infiltrations similar to the events at Zikim beach on October 7. The IDF emphasized that the exercises involve fighters from the elite 13th Squadron, as well as a new naval squadron of the Air Force that has begun operating Black Hawk helicopters recently delivered to the IDF.
