Israeli drivers warned of problems with camera-issued fines

Expert Hila Freiman-Kariv, co-founder of SAFER PLACE, stated that there are no uniform rules or standards. State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman noted a sharp increase in the number of cameras: in Jerusalem by 47 times, in Petah Tikva by 67 times, and in Beersheba by 271 times. The rules have not been updated in eight years, and a fine may arrive months later. For a fine to be legal, warning signs are required, the footage must be reviewed by an inspector within ten days, and privacy must be protected. If these requirements are not met, the driver can contest the fine.
