Israel's Ministry of Transport and Road Safety has launched a new digital service that allows car owners to block the possibility of re-registering ownership through post office branches. This measure is aimed at preventing fraud, where criminals, having obtained a copy of the vehicle registration document under the pretext of checking insurance or financing, attempt to re-register the car using forged documents. To activate the protection, one must log into the government portal, select the car, and enable the blocking option. After that, re-registration at the post office becomes impossible until the owner disables the function. The ministry recommends keeping the block enabled at all times and removing it only for a real transaction. The service does not affect online ownership transfer, which uses state identification. In the first phase, the service is available for private cars with a single owner; later, it is planned to expand it to cars with two owners and companies. The authority also reminds not to send copies of personal documents to unknown individuals.
