Israeli Oscar-winning directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shor have completed work on the documentary 'NAZA' ('Collateral Damage'), focusing on the actions of the IDF in the Gaza Strip. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it is the only documentary in the main competition vying for the Golden Lion. It has also been selected for the New York Film Festival and the San Sebastian Film Festival. Over three years, the directors filmed at night on rooftops in Tel Aviv, interviewing 24 IDF soldiers under conditions of full anonymity. One, presented as an officer, said he authorized strikes on residential buildings hundreds of times, knowing families were inside. Others claimed targets were determined using AI based on phone intelligence data, with no limit on possible civilian casualties. Some admitted to deliberately killing children and called it war crimes. The directors stated the film is not about individual excesses but the system itself, and that mass civilian deaths were the result of conscious decisions.
