Israel's Actions in Syria – Sa'ar Responds Sharply to Turkey

The Turkish diplomat called on the international community to pressure Jerusalem to comply with the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. Sa'ar responded on social media platform X, stating that Turkey itself violates the sovereignty of neighboring states, holds territories in Syria and Cyprus, and conducts military actions against Kurds. He claimed that Ankara controls about 5% of Syrian territory, where Turkey is trying to establish military bases, while the Israeli buffer zone occupies only a tenth of a percent and serves defensive purposes. The need for its creation arose after Syrian radicals violated the 1974 agreement and entered the demilitarized zone in December 2024. Sa'ar concluded that Israel will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens from any threats.
