Israel Katz Revealed, Americans Fumed - and Eyal Zamir Forced to Apologize

Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed that American fighter jets take off from Israel to strike Iran. An Israeli military source told the Saudi channel Al-Arabiya that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) was angered by the disclosure, and Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, was forced to apologize to the CENTCOM commander. The same source added that a state of high alert was declared following the disclosure. It was also reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is furious with Katz, who is alleged to have revealed operational secrets. Commentator Ben Caspit quoted Katz as saying that the Iranians shoot at everything in the area except Israel, knowing that American planes take off from here to attack. Former ambassador Mike Herzog said the statement is an unnecessary provocation of the Iranians and does not strengthen deterrence.
