Irish remove Elbit fog landing system from gov’t jet
Ireland has removed the Elbit Systems FalconEye landing system from its new government jet, a Falcon 6X purchased for €53 million from French manufacturer Dassault. The removal was insisted upon by Irish authorities because the system is produced by an Israeli company, as part of Ireland's boycott of Israeli products in opposition to the war in Gaza. The system helps pilots navigate fog and difficult weather conditions. A former pilot told the Irish Times that without the system, the plane would have to be diverted to alternative airports in fog. The Irish website TheJournal reported that removing the system could impair the plane's ability to land in fog. Despite the boycott, four new Airbus helicopters ordered by Ireland include Israeli technology, and a maritime patrol aircraft also has Israeli radar systems.
