Yesterday, Iranian television quoted a senior negotiator as saying that "reaching understandings with the Sultanate of Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz is within reach - if the United States stops its interference." Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran to reach an agreement with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz by that same day, otherwise it would face devastating airstrikes - as reported by Bloomberg News. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC that "we may see an agreement with Iran on Hormuz today or tomorrow." Last Wednesday, Iran announced that it categorically rejects Oman's compromise proposal to regulate ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz using a joint mechanism. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi revealed that Oman proposed a temporary framework of equal division, but Tehran rejected the formula, claiming it does not adequately address the "national security concerns" of the Islamic Republic.
