Iran warns two European countries: 'You will bear responsibility'

Iran has warned Cyprus and Bulgaria against allowing the US to use military bases on their territory for strikes against Tehran. Foreign Minister Araghchi clarified that any country that puts its territory at the disposal of a foreign force will be considered a participant in aggression.

Iran warned Cyprus and Bulgaria on Thursday against allowing the United States to use military bases on their territory for possible strikes against the Islamic Republic. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in separate conversations with his counterparts in both countries that any country that puts its territory at the disposal of a foreign force for action against Iran will be considered a participant in aggression and will bear responsibility for the consequences. In a conversation with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Araghchi emphasized the need to prevent foreign forces from using British military bases on the island. Kombos replied that Cyprus had received assurances from Britain that the bases would not be used for operations against Iran. In a separate conversation with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova, Araghchi demanded that Sofia reconsider its decision to allow American aircraft to use the Bezmer base. The Bulgarian parliament earlier this month approved a proposal allowing this use. Iran threatened that it would not hesitate to defend its national interests and security.
