Iran threatens US with attacks on most 'sensitive' targets

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that if US attacks continue, a retaliatory strike could be directed at US energy companies and regional infrastructure facilities. The statement was made on social media platform X after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth questioned the safety of the Iranian tanker fleet and threatened to destroy its vessels if they attack US Navy ships. Ghalibaf stated that the region's oil and gas infrastructure remains vulnerable and warned that American businesses operating in these waters would face the same threats in the event of escalation. "It's simple: the oil and gas production chain here is branched, accessible, and vulnerable. American oil and gas companies in these waters and facilities share this vulnerability. Strike our assets, and you will receive a strike in return. We have already proven this. Ask the bases that are no longer viable," Ghalibaf emphasized. He added an image to the post warning of possible serious economic consequences for the US. Tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise amid mutual attacks on vessels and infrastructure, as well as the escalating situation around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
