Iran rejects Kyiv's 'accidental' attack claims, threatens action

Iran has rejected Kyiv's claims that the Ukrainian military's attack on an Iranian cargo ship carrying weapons was unintentional. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated that Iran's position is clear and that Ukraine's arguments were unconvincing. He emphasized that acknowledging the incident imposes legal and financial obligations on Ukraine, demanded compensation, and threatened unilateral action if Kyiv refuses.

Iran has responded harshly to the incident involving an attack by Ukrainian forces on an Iranian cargo ship carrying weapons. Tehran categorically refuses to believe that the strikes on the vessel were unintentional and has called on Kyiv to answer for its actions. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated that Iran's position has been laid out with utmost clarity, and that Kyiv's arguments have failed to convince. According to the diplomat, the fact that Ukrainian officials acknowledged the incident itself imposes legal and financial obligations on them. He stressed that Ukraine is unequivocally obliged to compensate for the damage caused. Otherwise, Iran is prepared to act without Kyiv's involvement, as Baghaei directly indicated.
