Iran names main condition for reopening Strait of Hormuz
IRGC representative Hossein Mohebi said Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz only after the US fully accepts Tehran's conditions and stops interfering in regional affairs. He stressed the strategic importance of the strait for Iran's security. Talks with Oman are in the final stage.
A representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Mohebi, said that Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz only after the United States fully accepts Tehran's conditions and ceases interference in regional affairs. This was reported by the Tasnim agency. Mohebi emphasized that for Iran, the strait is not just an economic artery but a strategic element of national security and defense capability. He noted that the reopening of the strait has its own legal and defense mechanism, independent of the negotiation process with Oman. The key demand to Washington is to completely refrain from interfering in the negotiations between Iran, Oman, and other regional players, which are in the final stage. Earlier, on August 5, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that Tehran and Muscat had agreed on the coordinates of an alternative route through the strait, but this does not mean an immediate resumption of shipping.
