The initiative first surfaced at an informal meeting at the Shah Abdol-Azim shrine complex but faced resistance from Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and his supporters. Deputy Mojtaba Zarei, a Ghalibaf ally, called the events a coup conspiracy, emphasizing that Pezeshkian's administration enjoys the support of the Supreme Leader. Zarei threatened to reveal data about the deputy and faction linked to the ultra-radical 'Sharian' network, close to Saeed Jalili. The conflict unfolds against the backdrop of escalating military confrontation with the US and tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian newspaper 'Etemad' noted that radicals are trying to weaken executive power through political friction and pressure on the hijab issue.
