Iran has officially accused the administration of Donald Trump of attempting to derail negotiations with Oman on a safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz. A senior Iranian representative, in an interview with Press TV, stated that the dialogue is entering a new phase despite active interference from Washington. Tehran emphasizes that it continues to fulfill its obligations under Article 5 of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and is developing cooperation with regional partners. The Iranian side is confident that an agreement with Oman is achievable if the US ceases its interference. Diplomats are discussing the creation of a special corridor for the safe movement of commercial vessels through the strategically important strait. Iran insists that the initiative must serve its sovereign interests as a coastal state. Tehran also believes that the American administration seeks to claim credit for future successes of the negotiation track between Iran and Muscat. The official stated that Washington's destructive actions only delay the achievement of agreements, and amid American threats, Iran continues to implement its own program.
