Indictments Filed Against Suspects in Attempted Assassination of Known Crime Figure in Ashdod

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed two indictments against Matan Arviv, Avitar Zerach Yaakovi, and Natai Lagami for attempting to murder a known crime figure using an explosive device attached to his car in Ashdod. According to the indictments, the three conspired to kill the crime figure over a dispute, attached the device to his vehicle, and detonated it remotely. The device fell off the car and exploded on a residential street, causing damage to vehicles and buildings.

The State Prosecutor's Office filed today (Thursday) with the Be'er Sheva District Court two indictments against Matan Arviv (29) from Hadera, Avitar Zerach Yaakovi (34) from Rosh HaAyin, and Natai Lagami (22) from El'ad, for their involvement in an attempted murder of a known crime figure using an explosive device attached to his car in Ashdod. The indictments, filed by attorney Alex Derenboim from the Southern District Prosecutor's Office, describe a conspiracy to kill the crime figure over a dispute, using surveillance devices, an explosive device, and motorcycles. On July 1, in the early morning, Lagami attached an explosive device under the car used by the complainant. Later, the device fell off the car and exploded on a residential street, causing damage to vehicles, buildings, and the road, and hearing damage to residents. Arviv fled during his arrest but was arrested in April on Koh Samui island in Thailand under an Interpol warrant. The indictments attribute to Arviv and Lagami offenses of attempted murder, carrying a weapon, obstruction of justice, and damage with explosives, and to Yaakovi offenses of aiding. The case was investigated by the Lahish District Police Unit.
