Indictment to Be Filed Against Tel Aviv School Teacher Accused of Sex Offenses Against 12-Year-Old Student

The State Prosecutor's Office today filed an indictment with the Tel Aviv District Court against Muhammad al-Naqib, a math teacher at a prestigious school in Tel Aviv, charging him with sex offenses against his 12-year-old student. Concurrently, the prosecution requested that he be held in custody until the end of proceedings. Al-Naqib was arrested last month, and the investigation concluded after he was suspected of meeting the minor outside school hours.

The State Prosecutor's Office today (Monday) filed an indictment with the Tel Aviv District Court against Muhammad al-Naqib, a math teacher at a prestigious school in Tel Aviv, charging him with sex offenses against his 12-year-old student. The indictment was filed by attorney Lilach Shtibel from the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office. Concurrently, the prosecution requested the court to order al-Naqib's detention until the end of legal proceedings against him. According to the suspicion, al-Naqib used to meet the minor outside school hours, allegedly as part of a "relationship" between them. After the investigation was completed, it was decided to file an indictment against him, but the court ordered a publication ban on its contents. Al-Naqib was arrested last month and has since been brought several times to hearings on extending his detention. Now, after the investigation concluded and the prosecution believes that an evidentiary basis for filing an indictment has been established, it seeks to keep him in custody until the end of his trial. The Tel Aviv District Court is expected to soon discuss the prosecution's request for his detention until the end of proceedings.
