A 45-year-old resident of East Jerusalem was arrested on suspicion of stalking his former partner over a period of time, attaching a tracking device to her car, arriving at places where she was, and violating a restraining order that was in effect against him. The investigation was opened following a complaint filed by the woman, after she noticed the suspect removing the tracking device from her car. Police also attribute to him a violation of her privacy. Upon completion of the investigation and the establishment of the evidentiary basis, a prosecutor's statement was filed against the suspect. His detention was extended until August 3, 2026, when the police prosecution in the Jerusalem District is expected to file an indictment against him. Police Superintendent Amir Suaed, head of the cyber unit team at the Shapira station, said: "This is a suspect who, according to the suspicion, posed a real danger to the victim through his conduct. The Israel Police acts decisively against any manifestation of violence, harassment, and harm to the safety of crime victims, and will continue to act to bring those involved to justice."
