Indictment against two National Guard officers for serious assault of Tel Sheva residents

A serious indictment has been filed against two National Guard officers for violently assaulting two residents in Tel Sheva. The incident occurred in January during a patrol, when the officers conducted an unauthorized body search, attacked with punches, kicks, and a tactical glove, leaving the victims injured. The Police Internal Investigations Department investigation led to the indictment.

The Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash) today (Thursday) filed an indictment in the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court against two National Guard officers in the Southern District. The officers are charged with assault causing actual bodily harm under aggravated circumstances, following a violent incident against two residents of the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva. The incident occurred at the end of January 2026 during a vehicle patrol. The defendants approached the two complainants who were standing on the street, exited the patrol car, and conducted an unauthorized body search. One of the defendants donned tactical gloves with hard plastic parts and struck one of the complainants with punches and kicks. The second defendant ordered the other complainant to stand facing a wall and kicked him forcefully in the legs and groin. After the assault, they returned to the patrol car and left, but later came back to locate security cameras at the scene. The Mahash investigation began in early February, and at its conclusion, an indictment was filed against two of four fighters who were investigated. The incident occurs against the backdrop of a report by the Knesset Research and Information Center, which indicated that the National Guard operates without transparent legal regulation, as the government committee tasked with formulating its procedures has yet to be convened.
