Indian vessel attacked near Yemen, capsized and sank
An Indian vessel, MSV Faize Noore Oliya, was attacked this evening (Tuesday) near the coast of Yemen, capsized and sank. All 14 crew members, mostly Indians, were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard and taken to the port of Mokha. India's Shipping Minister condemned the attack as 'unjustified' on a 'defenseless' vessel. India's Foreign Ministry also condemned it and said the embassy in Riyadh is coordinating with authorities in Yemen.

India's Shipping Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, said the ship was hit by an unidentified projectile, and that all 14 crew members were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard and taken to the port of Mokha on the Red Sea. According to him, 13 of the 14 crew members are Indian citizens. Sonowal condemned the attack as 'unjustified' on a 'defenseless' vessel, stressing that the safety of their people is the top priority. He ordered the Director General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of Indian sailors in the area. India's Foreign Ministry in New Delhi also condemned the attack, saying the embassy in Riyadh is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with authorities in Yemen. The incident occurs against the backdrop of rising tensions with the Houthis, who have imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia and attacked vessels in the area. Last week, The Guardian reported that Saudi Arabia is concentrating forces for a possible ground offensive on Yemen's al-Bayda province. The Houthis declared a blockade on Saudi ships on July 20, and also attacked the oil company Aramco.
