Government forces described the battles as 'the fiercest battles' ever waged against the Houthis, and noted that the attack began with heavy rocket bombardment, drone attacks and explosive boats, and was planned in advance to encircle the forces. The claims come against the backdrop of a Reuters report from July, according to which Iran flew Revolutionary Guard commanders, military advisors and missile and drone equipment to Yemen on July 13.
