Doron Milberg, CEO of Rishon LeZion municipality, is stepping down after 30 years in local government, including 24 years as a municipal CEO. In an interview with 'Hayom', he criticizes the government's treatment of local authorities, especially during the Swords of Iron war, claiming that CEOs were left alone in the field. As an example, he cites the evacuation of Kiryat Shmona, where no one knew to order hotels or the evacuation method. He also describes the cancellation of the Backstreet Boys concert in Rishon LeZion due to fear of an alarm and mass disaster, a decision made against the Home Front Command's position. Milberg calls for reducing the number of municipalities, merging small ones with strong cities, and strengthening the professional echelon at the expense of the political one. He praises Mayor Raz Kinstlich and notes that his four children do not live in the city due to high housing prices (3.5–4.5 million shekels for a 4-room apartment). He does not rule out running for the council in the future.
