Author Eyal Megged, who was once a close friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and is now one of his prominent opponents, was interviewed on the podcast "Change of Direction" on the Knesset Channel and claimed that the Israeli left does not forgive his past closeness to Netanyahu. According to him, "In the eyes of the left, being friends with Bibi is worse than being friends with Hitler." Megged illustrated that even after he retracted his support for Netanyahu and came out against him, the left continues to boycott him, while friends of other prime ministers, such as Ehud Olmert, did not face similar criticism. He noted that Olmert, who was convicted of crimes, received lenient treatment from the left due to his left-leaning orientation. Megged, who previously spoke in favor of a military coup against Netanyahu, harshly criticized the continued rule of Netanyahu and the ongoing war.
