Abd al-Hussein expands the claim, noting that the regional balance of power now favors the United States and Israel, which are too strong militarily, economically, diplomatically, and technologically for Iran and Hezbollah. He argues that Tehran cannot prevent Washington from striking inside Iran, so its ability to stop Israeli moves against Hezbollah is limited. The commentator states that the region has undergone a profound change: the Assad regime in Syria is gone, Hezbollah is severely weakened, much of its weapons arsenal has been destroyed or captured, and Tehran and Beirut are in dire economic straits.
