Illegal weapons, drugs and dozens of illegal residents: 36 arrested in massive raid in Rahat
In a targeted enforcement operation in Rahat, police arrested 36 suspects on weapons, property and drug offenses. During searches, Glock pistols, an M-16 rifle, ammunition, an explosive block and about 736 grams of heroin were seized. In addition, 29 illegal residents were located and arrested in an abandoned building in the city.
Over the past weekend, the Israel Police, together with Border Police fighters, conducted a targeted enforcement operation in the city of Rahat, during which 36 suspects were arrested on various offenses, including weapons, property and drug offenses. In the first activity, on Thursday night, concealed weapons were located near a construction site, including a Glock pistol, two full pistol magazines with ammunition, an M-16 rifle, a 5.56mm ammunition box and two M-16 magazines. A suspect, 35, a resident of Rahat, was arrested. In the second activity, on Friday afternoon, a Glock pistol and an explosive block were found in a house in Rahat under a wooden raft, and in a locked closet in the bedroom were found 25 boxes of 5.56mm ammunition, seven M-16 magazines and an M-16 weapon part. Three suspects, including a minor, were arrested. In another activity, on Wednesday night, a vehicle was checked on Highway 40 and a substance suspected to be heroin weighing about 736 grams was seized. The vehicle's driver, a 40-year-old woman from Segev Shalom, and a passenger, a 41-year-old man from Rahat, were arrested. Last night (Saturday night), 29 illegal residents were located in an abandoned building in Rahat, all arrested. The findings were transferred for further investigative handling.
