Illegal Residents, Weapons, and Vehicles Worth Millions: Police Operation in the Negev

A large-scale police operation named 'Derech Arim' was conducted yesterday (Wednesday) in Rahat and Tarabin in the Negev, under the command of Police Commissioner Chief Superintendent Danny Levy. During the operation, 10 suspects were detained, including six illegal residents, and two pistols and ammunition were seized. Additionally, over 40 vehicles belonging to debtors were located, worth more than 7 million shekels, including trucks, a trailer, and private vehicles. About 50,000 liters of fuel were found invalid, and a gas station operating without a license was closed. The Ministry of Health issued a closure order for a bakery, and in two butcher shops, about 620 kilograms of unfit meat were destroyed. The Tax Authority identified unreported receipts in dozens of businesses, and the Electric Corporation performed disconnections and identified electricity thefts. The Israel Land Authority identified land encroachments, and the National Insurance Institute opened investigation files on suspicion of receiving unemployment benefits while working. The operation involved about 400 officers from the Southern District, National Guard fighters of the Border Police, and about 150 representatives from 26 enforcement and regulatory bodies. The police emphasized that the goal of the activity is to strengthen governance and strike crime organizations.
