Ignored 'Stop' Sign and Blocked Motorcycles: 75-Year-Old Woman Charged with Negligent Homicide of Two Border Police Fighters

The prosecution filed an indictment against Helen Sahyik, 75, from Moledet, for negligent homicide of two Border Police fighters, Staff Sergeant Gal Yosef and Staff Sergeant Tomer Eliyahu Klifi, in a road accident on Highway 90 in August 2025. Sahyik entered an intersection against a stop sign and blocked their path, causing them to collide with her car and die.

The prosecution filed an indictment this morning (Wednesday) at the Traffic Court in Safed against Helen Sahyik, a 75-year-old resident of Moledet, for negligent homicide of two Border Police fighters - Staff Sergeant Gal Yosef and Staff Sergeant Tomer Eliyahu Klifi, may they rest in peace - in a road accident on Highway 90. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of Saturday, August 16, 2025. Staff Sergeant Klifi (24) and Staff Sergeant Yosef (23), two close friends serving in the Northern Border Police, were riding motorcycles and collided with the private vehicle driven by Sahyik near the Sde Eliezer junction in the Hula Valley. According to the indictment, Sahyik entered the intersection despite a stop sign and stop line, turned left, and blocked their path. The two collided with her car one after the other with great force and died at the scene. The indictment attributes to Sahyik two counts of causing death by negligent driving, reckless driving, causing damage to persons and property through negligence, and disobeying a stop sign. Staff Sergeant Yosef, 23, from Afula, had married three weeks before the accident. Staff Sergeant Klifi, 24, from Kfar Baruch, had taken command of a team a month before the accident.
