IDF to begin combat processing program for Givati soldiers following mass walkout from Sde Teiman

Brig.-Gen. Sagiv Cohen, commander of the IDF's 162nd Division, decided that the Givati Brigade's Tzabar Battalion will participate in a combat processing program after returning from leave. The decision follows last week's walkout by hundreds of soldiers from the Sde Teiman base after a dispute with senior command staff. The program will focus on discussions with organizational consultants and mental health officers, giving soldiers space to share their combat experiences and identify those needing targeted assistance. Tensions remain high due to severe disciplinary measures, including removing soldiers from combat duty and revoking their combat service certificates, which entitle recipients to benefits after service. Soldiers hope commanders will reconsider. The walkout occurred on Thursday after commanders destroyed and removed insignias displayed in the battalion's companies, with one commander reportedly using a five-kilogram hammer. On Friday night, 14 soldiers identified as leaders were sentenced to 30 days in military prison and removed from combat service; two others will face proceedings later; one has yet to report. The IDF opted for lighter measures for 80 other soldiers who returned.
