The IDF has launched an unusual operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, employing drones with powerful loudspeakers to exert psychological pressure on militants hiding in an extensive network of underground tunnels. According to available data, dozens of terrorists remain trapped in tunnels on the Ali Taher ridge. The area is fully surrounded by units of the IDF's 36th Division, which control possible escape routes. The drones operate around the clock, aiming to force the militants to leave their hideouts and surrender, depriving them of the advantage of underground infrastructure. So far, the tactic has not yielded decisive results: most militants remain in the tunnels. During a recent attempt to exit, two terrorists clashed with soldiers of the Egoz unit and were eliminated, and an IDF officer was moderately wounded. The operation also involves special forces brigade and the 7th Armored Brigade. The current actions are a continuation of a large-scale operation to destroy Hezbollah's underground infrastructure. Earlier, IDF engineering units blew up a strategic tunnel complex on the Beaufort ridge, after which they focused efforts on the Ali Taher area. According to foreign sources, these structures are part of an underground system known as 'Shelter City', built over about 20 years. The complex near Beaufort was located about six kilometers from Metula and was used by the Badr unit. The military hopes that the elimination of such complexes will seriously limit Hezbollah's ability to prepare new attacks.
