On Friday, August 14, the IDF officially confirmed the elimination of Muhammad Basem Mushtaha, a company commander in the Shati battalion, who, according to the military, 'brutalized on October 7' and was involved in the abduction and holding of many hostages. It was reported that Mushtaha was fatally wounded in an airstrike on a safe house in northern Gaza on July 30 and died. During the war, he held captive Tsachi Idan, Noa Marciano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Naama Levy, and others. The IDF noted that the terrorist was preparing attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians, and he was eliminated 'to remove the threat.' The news of the elimination came amid plans by Jared Kushner and Nikolai Mladenov to visit Israel to discuss President Trump's 15-point plan, which requires Israel to wind down military operations in Gaza. Israel informed the Americans that it would continue to neutralize militants involved in the October 7 massacre.
