The 'Brit Re'im' delegation of the Home Front Command, operating in Colombia alongside local rescue forces, has completed the rescue of the last trapped individuals at the destruction sites where it operated. The forces are now continuing a major effort to sort damaged buildings to help form an updated situational picture in the area. The completion of rescues follows a call by the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, with the Home Front Command commander and delegation members, in which he expressed appreciation for their work. Zamir emphasized the value-driven message of sending the best capabilities to assist another country in distress, even as the IDF faces significant threats at home. The delegation departed for Colombia about a week ago under the directive of Prime Minister Netanyahu, following the earthquake on August 10. The delegation numbers about 80 regular and reserve personnel, headed by Brigadier General (res.) Yossi Pinto, and focused on rescue operations in the area of the city of Cali.
