IDF Chief in Southern Lebanon: 'If Needed, We Will Deepen into Additional Areas'

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited southern Lebanon with the Northern Command, met with Kfir Brigade troops entering the sector for the first time, and warned that the campaign is not over. Zamir said the IDF has captured and is clearing areas of Hezbollah infrastructure, and if necessary, will deepen into additional areas. IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, visited southern Lebanon today (Wednesday) together with the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Rafi Milo, and other commanders. During the visit, Zamir met with fighters of the Kfir Brigade (900), who entered maneuver in southern Lebanon for the first time in the past week after prolonged fighting in the Gaza Strip. Zamir held a conversation with battalion and brigade commanders of the 91st Division and examined their readiness for the mission. In his remarks, Zamir said: 'The campaign in all sectors is not over yet,' and emphasized that the IDF is prepared for any change. He noted significant achievements against Iran and said that if necessary, the military will deepen its achievements. In Lebanon, he said, the IDF has captured and is clearing areas of Hezbollah infrastructure, adding: 'If needed – we will deepen and reach additional areas.' Zamir clarified that the IDF will not withdraw from the captured areas until long-term security for northern residents is ensured. He praised the Kfir Brigade fighters who fought for nearly three consecutive years and moved from Gaza to Lebanon in a short time. Zamir called for expanding the IDF and the number of fighters to meet the growing missions, noting that the goal is for all regular brigades to go on rotation by the holiday period alongside reducing reserve duty.
