IBM teams with Israel’s Qedma for quantum breakthrough
IBM, using Israeli startup Qedma's noise-neutralizing software, achieved a scientific quantum advantage by surpassing the world's most powerful supercomputer with a 72-qubit chip, reaching 74 logical qubits. Validated by Quantinuum, this marks a step toward commercial quantum computing within three years.
IBM, in collaboration with Israeli startup Qedma, has achieved a scientific breakthrough in quantum computing. Using Qedma's noise-neutralizing software and algorithms, IBM's 72-qubit quantum chip surpassed the performance of the world's most powerful supercomputer, which has 700,000 core processors. The experiment, validated by Quantinuum, achieved 74 logical qubits—noise-free processing units. This marks a scientific quantum advantage, though not yet a commercial one. Qedma CEO Dr. Asif Sinay stated that this heralds a commercial breakthrough within about three years. The achievement addresses the key challenge of quantum noise, which has limited previous efforts by Google and others.
