IBM teams with Israel’s Qedma for quantum breakthrough

IBM, in collaboration with Israeli startup Qedma, has achieved a scientific breakthrough in quantum computing. Using Qedma's noise-neutralizing software and algorithms, IBM's 72-qubit quantum chip surpassed the performance of the world's most powerful supercomputer, which has 700,000 core processors. The experiment, validated by Quantinuum, achieved 74 logical qubits—noise-free processing units. This marks a scientific quantum advantage, though not yet a commercial one. Qedma CEO Dr. Asif Sinay stated that this heralds a commercial breakthrough within about three years. The achievement addresses the key challenge of quantum noise, which has limited previous efforts by Google and others.
