IAI subsidiary advances to final stage of Dubai's major metro tender

Israeli company Altal, owned by IAI and Malem-Tim, has advanced to the final stage of the tender for the operation and maintenance of Dubai's Blue Metro Line, estimated at over $2 billion. The Israeli-Emirati-Indian consortium competes against two other groups, with a decision expected by the end of the year. The line's operation is planned for 2029.

Israeli company Altal, equally owned by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the Malem-Tim group, has advanced to the final stage of the tender for the operation and maintenance of Dubai's new Blue Metro Line, estimated at over $2 billion. This is a significant civilian infrastructure project, with operations expected to begin in 2029. Altal is competing through its subsidiary T&E Technologies, as part of a consortium that also includes the local Al Shafar group and the Indian metro company DMRC. The consortium reached the final stage of the process managed by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), where three competing groups remain. The identities of the other two groups are not yet known, and the winner is expected to be selected towards the end of the year. Construction of the line began in December 2024, when RTA selected a Turkish-Chinese consortium to lead the design work. A senior official involved in the matter estimated that the final financial scope of the maintenance and operation tender could exceed $2 billion, depending on the contract duration. Within the consortium, DMRC will bring extensive operational experience, Al Shafar will provide local advantage, and Altal will focus on the technological maintenance of the systems along the line.
