IAI equips Singapore warship with Blue Spear missiles

Singapore launched its new 8,000-ton RSS Valour warship, equipped with Blue Spear missiles developed by IAI and ST Engineering. The Blue Spear, based on the Gabriel missile, operates in all weather and will replace outdated Harpoon missiles. The vessel, built in 455 days, serves as a command ship for unmanned systems.

Singapore has launched its new 8,000-ton RSS Valour warship, an upgrade over its existing vessels which weigh up to 595 tons. The ship integrates the Blue Spear coastal missile, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in collaboration with Singapore's ST Engineering. The Blue Spear, based on the Gabriel missile, can be deployed in all weather conditions and at all times of the day, and features long-range attack capability, high velocity, radar homing heads, and major navigation capabilities. These missiles will replace Singapore's outdated Harpoon missiles. The new vessel will serve as a command ship and mothership for unmanned aerial, naval, and underwater systems. The shipyard, belonging to ST, produced the Blue Spear in 455 days from cutting the first steel to launching. The vessel is designed to remain at sea for more than 21 days with a crew of less than 100. In addition to the Israeli system, the Singaporeans have integrated a French-made radar and an Italian-made main gun.
