In her Instagram post, she stated that she was not angered by the "Free Palestine" slogans, but by the rapper's onstage words to a crowd of thousands, saying his performance did not concern the Jews in the audience. "You don't get to decide that for us," Pink wrote. She also recalled a 2014 incident when Macklemore performed in a costume with a hooked nose, black beard, and bowl cut, which many Jews, including the singer herself, considered a caricature of a Jew. Pink emphasized that she does not speak on behalf of Israel or its government, called Hamas a terrorist organization, and stated that Palestinians deserve a dignified future. After the post, she disabled comments, and the second part of her explanation, left in the comments, disappeared. Social media reactions were divided: some users accused Pink of insincerity, while others thanked her for her courage. Macklemore, in turn, stated that his criticism of Israel is not directed against the Jewish people.
