About two months ago, she revealed in a personal post that her illness was at an advanced stage and she had begun a process of farewell. Galili-Zucker worked alongside Netanyahu and Barak, was a journalist at Haaretz for 16 years, and held a PhD in political science.

Former journalist, researcher and political consultant Dr. Orit Galili-Zucker passed away today (Sunday) after a battle with cancer. Galili-Zucker, 70 at her death, was for years a familiar figure in the worlds of media, academia and political consulting in Israel. Just about two months ago, she revealed in a personal post that her cancer was at an advanced stage and that she was beginning "a process of farewell." In the post, which received hundreds of responses, she said her treating physician had spoken with her about the final stages of the disease. Galili-Zucker asked the public to help her try to reach medical trials abroad or receive "compassionate drugs." After the post sparked a large wave of responses, she published a clarification in which she wrote "I'm not dead yet." Galili-Zucker was born in Jerusalem in 1956, worked for about 16 years at the Haaretz newspaper, held a PhD in political science and taught at universities. On the political scene, she served as a strategic advisor to the Labor Party and Ehud Barak, and in 2011 joined the team of Benjamin Netanyahu.
