Tamir Moshe Levi was convicted of aggravated assault and extortion by force, after cutting a man's left ear in half and threatening to plant a bomb in his car if he did not pay 300,000 shekels within a week. The incident began with Levi deceitfully inviting the victim to his home, then leading him to a nearby garden, attacking him with punches and kicks, pulling out a knife, and cutting his ear. After the attack, Levi demanded 300,000 shekels and threatened that if the money was not transferred, he would plant a bomb in the car "so that his bones would not be found." Judge Dana Marshak Marom ruled that it was a "planned and calculated incident" that began with the victim being invited "deceitfully." Levi, who has a criminal record of 12 convictions, claimed he had changed and begged to rehabilitate his life. The court sentenced him to five years in prison, suspended sentences, and 30,000 shekels in compensation to the victim.
