The correspondence, obtained by ynet, shows that the security coordinator sent the detailed route of the trip to the military officials, but the event was not approved through the required channels. The security coordinator tried to contact the hikers without success. On Friday morning, during the trip, a confrontation developed with Palestinians near the village of Tel. Binyahu Malet, a member of the emergency response team, was shot dead, and Major Yuval Ezra fell. The security coordinator himself was seriously wounded. In the incident, four Palestinians were also killed, including the terrorist who seized an M-16 rifle and opened fire.
