Husband arrested, wife fled and threw gun from window: drama at police checkpoint

An indictment was filed against a 29-year-old resident of Ba'ana who, according to police, tried to flee a checkpoint near Karmiel with his wife, who during the escape threw a loaded gun from the car. The incident occurred on June 28 on Road 804. The husband attacked an officer and ordered his wife to flee and throw the weapon. The wife was arrested, the gun was seized loaded, and her investigation continues.

An indictment was filed against a 29-year-old resident of Ba'ana who, according to police, tried to flee a police checkpoint near Karmiel with his wife, who during the escape threw a loaded gun from the car. The incident occurred on June 28 in the evening, during an operation by Northern District officers on Road 804. According to police, the vehicle's occupants noticed the officers, stopped at a distance, and then advanced slowly in a manner that aroused their suspicion. When the car reached near the police car, one officer noticed a 9mm bullet at the foot of the front passenger seat. According to the indictment, at this point the husband attacked the officer and pushed him in an attempt to obstruct his work. It was also alleged that the husband ordered his wife to flee the scene and throw the weapon, while simultaneously releasing the handbrake and shifting the gear lever into drive. The wife began driving away recklessly, and during the drive threw an FN-type gun from the car. Shortly after, she was arrested by the forces. The gun was located and seized loaded with a magazine and bullets. The husband was arrested and his detention was extended from time to time. At the end of the investigation, the Haifa District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against him in the Haifa District Court. The investigation of his wife continues. According to police, since the beginning of the year, more than 570 weapons have been seized in the Northern District.
