U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Melih Gogebakan, a Turkish national who worked as an Uber driver, in New Jersey on suspicion of posing for years as a senior White House communications advisor and close associate of the Trump organization's leadership. According to a report on the website 'Turkey Today', Gogebakan ensnared Turkish citizens seeking E-2 investor visas to the U.S., charging each $3,000 without submitting their applications to official immigration systems. To bolster the fake persona, he used AI-generated images, posted fictitious tags from the White House, and presented photos with diplomats and public figures, including former Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu and U.S. Department of Labor inspector Anthony D'Esposito. Soylu denied any connection, threatened legal action, and called the reports a conspiracy. Gogebakan is held at the 'Delaney Hall' detention facility in New Jersey, and lawyers representing the victims are filing criminal complaints in Turkey and the U.S.
