How much does a nurse earn compared to a police officer: new dashboard reveals public sector salary data

The Ministry of Finance has launched a new dashboard revealing public sector salary data for 2023–2024, allowing comparisons between bodies and sectors. The data shows that 87% of teachers are women, 73% of police officers are men, and the average salary gap between women and men in the public sector stands at 27.6%, likely due to differences in roles.

The Ministry of Finance, through its Wage and Labor Agreements Division, has for the first time launched a dashboard that centralizes salary data for public sector employees for 2023–2024. The platform allows users to review data through interactive tools and make cross-comparisons between bodies and sectors, including government ministries, the health system, education, local government, government companies, and security bodies. The data shows that out of approximately 648,000 public sector employees, about 70% are women and 30% are men. The average salary gap between men and women stands at 27.6%, and 75% of those earning the lowest salaries are women. The Wage Division emphasized that the gaps are mostly due to differences in fields of work, roles, and overtime hours, and that they are lower than those in the private sector. The dashboard also reveals that among the 143,700 teachers in the Ministry of Education, 87% are women; in the police, 73% of officers are men; and in Clalit Health Services, 74% are women. Ofra Goldfarb, a senior division manager, noted that she is proud to lead an initiative that reflects the division's policy of making detailed data accessible to the public.
