How long can the war with Iran last — US assessment

Senior sources in the circle of US President Donald Trump have reported that the new economic campaign against Iran, launched by the US Treasury, may yield results no sooner than three months. The strategy aims to cut off financial channels of the IRGC and the Iranian regime. A sharp drop in the value of the Iranian rial is noted: one dollar now buys over 2,000,000 rials.

Senior representatives from the circle of US President Donald Trump and sources close to the decision-making process in the White House have told American media that Trump's new policy toward Iran and the economic campaign launched by the US Treasury could significantly increase pressure on the Iranian regime. However, according to their assessments, the result will not be achieved in a day or two. The new campaign is aimed at "cutting off the oxygen channels of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the regime." It is expected that this strategy will yield results, but it will take at least three months. The sources noted that the Iranian economy continues to shrink almost daily. As one indicator, they cited the sharp drop in the value of the Iranian rial: one US dollar now buys over 2,000,000 rials. US administration officials also paid special attention to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it one of the key factors. According to them, the US Navy manages to export an average of more than 10 million barrels of oil per night while the blockade of Iran continues. The White House believes that achieving the necessary effect will require a gradual buildup of pressure, which will take at least three months. At the same time, they do not rule out that new clashes between the sides may occur during this period. The day before, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that a return to intensive combat operations is quite possible.
