Hours After Indictment: Be'er Sheva Deputy Mayor Joins Noam Party

Be'er Sheva Deputy Mayor Rabbi Shimon Tovul announced today (Tuesday) his joining the Noam party led by MK Avi Maoz. The announcement comes hours after the prosecution filed an indictment against him for assaulting two gas station workers in Kfar Aza in September 2024, during his reserve duty. According to the indictment, the confrontation began due to Arabic music playing from one of the workers' vehicles. Tovul is charged with two counts of assault. Tovul, married and father of four, has served as a member of the Be'er Sheva city council since 2013 and in the current term serves as deputy mayor and holds the environmental portfolio. His faction has three members. The Noam party stated they support Tovul and claim the civilian prosecution took a case already examined by the military. Tovul said he joins Noam out of belief that this is the time to save the right-wing government and the world of Torah.
