Hollywood stars support terrorist imprisoned in Israel

Hollywood stars, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, and Tilda Swinton, have officially joined an international campaign demanding the release of Marwan Barghouti, convicted of terrorism. The petition, launched by Barghouti's relatives together with British human rights organizations, calls on the UN and world governments to secure his release from an Israeli prison. In total, more than two hundred cultural figures have supported the initiative. A significant development was the joining of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Barghouti led the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, recognized as a terrorist organization. In 2004, an Israeli court found him guilty of murders and attempted murders, sentencing him to five life terms plus an additional 40 years in prison for orchestrating attacks during the Second Intifada. Despite the severity of the crimes, his supporters position him as an influential political figure. According to polls, Barghouti enjoys the highest level of support among the Palestinian population.
